A StopLock is a small lock that slides onto a retail display hook you already own. It sits on the metal rod of the hook and stays there until a member of staff releases it with a magnetic key. Stock behind the lock cannot be pulled off the hook; stock in front of it can.

How a StopLock is used
- Hang your merchandise on the hook as usual.
- Slide the StopLock onto the rod, leaving one or two items in front of it.
- Customers take the items in front. The rest stay behind the lock.
- When the front is empty, staff release the lock with the magnetic key, move stock forward and lock it again.
The hook itself is not replaced, so the display keeps its layout and its price labels.
Which displays it works on
StopLocks are listed for compatible pegboard, slatwall, gridwall and slatgrid display hooks. The lock goes on the hook, not on the wall, so what matters is the hook: the diameter of its rod and the shape of its front end. Several of our locks need a bend at the front of the hook. If you are not sure which fixture you have, see display types.
Sizes
The size in a StopLock's name is the diameter of the lock opening.
- 4.5mm for thin hook rods up to 4.5mm.
- 6mm, in red or white, plain or with the stop sign. This is also the size in the 100-lock starter kit.
- 7mm for thicker hooks.
The size and key chart lists every lock with its opening, and how to measure peg hooks shows what to measure.
The key
Every StopLock in our collection opens with the R100 StopLock magnetic key. Cases of 25 locks do not include a key; the 100-lock starter kit includes one. Security keys are sold to businesses only, and we verify each key order before it ships.
When a StopLock is the right choice
- You want to keep your existing hooks and display.
- You want customers to be able to take one item without waiting for staff.
- You want a visible sign that the hook is locked. The red stop-sign design shows from down the aisle.
If you would rather lock every item on the hook, compare StopLocks and full locking hooks.
